Boys State Graduate Headed to West Point

Congratulations to NH Senior and Student Council President, and Boys State Graduate Owen Roy, who has committed to the United States Military Academy at West Point for fall 2022!

Owen began the arduous admissions process to West Point over two years ago, and his acceptance is so well-deserved on many levels.

Owen previously attended Boys State, a prestigious leadership opportunity, through sponsorship of the American Legion Post 57. Mr. Stan Kowalski, military veteran, active member of Post 57, and VP of the Waldwick Chamber of Commerce then connected Owen to Mr. John Grisoni, military veteran, active member of Post 57, and a West Point Admissions Representative in the 5th Congressional District of NJ.

Per Mr. Grisoni, “Attendance at Boys State (or Girls State) is considered a leadership achievement in the eyes of our service academies, as well as any elite college. Such attendance adds points to the candidate’s admissions file. In the final analysis, it was Owen’s academics, sports involvement, community outreach, character, and physical prowess that got him a slot at West Point.”

During a hockey game Owen received a personal call from U.S. Representative Josh Gottheimer to let him know he should be on the look-out for some news regarding his application. Congratulations, Owen!
