Replacement of Deceased Veteran Grave Flags

On a misty gray Saturday morning, members of Waldwick American Legion Post 57, VFW Post 1049, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts from Troop 88, Troop 54 of HoHoKus & Girl Scouts 98540 from Waldwick gathered at St. Luke’s Cemetery to honor and
remember our deceased veterans. Our group replaced 171 worn and tattered American flags that were placed in front of our veterans’ gravestones.

This solemn occasion was organized and led by Sergeant of Arms Chris Latham and accompanied by Colonel Bob Wagner, Al Paul, Mark & Jackie Lane and Senior Vice Commander Stan Kowalski of VFW Post 1049.

The old grave flags as well as hundreds of other flags turned in by our local citizens will be retired in a ceremony hosted by the Ramsey VFW Post 682 on June 17th , 2023 at 12:00pm. The location will be at the Red Barn in Crestwood Lake,
Allendale, NJ. All are invited to attend this ceremony.
