Post 57 works with Adopt A Soldier Platoon to ship care packages and goods to our troops serving in faraway lands.
Adopt-A-Soldier Requests
It has come to our attention that there are Special Forces units deployed in Africa who are often overlooked with the usual distribution of care packages. These units are described as living under more stressful conditions than other troops deployed to established operating posts. Unilever Corporation, the large international company with the logistics necessary to reach these troops, has requested certain items which we will deliver to the corporation’s warehouse for shipment at no cost to us. Unilever would like these items shipped in the month of March or before:
-
Tuna in cans or ready-to-eat packs.
-
Sardines in cans.
-
Canned meats such as Hormel corned beef, Vienna sausage, Deviled Ham, beef jerky, etc. These items should be in small cans suitable for packing in rucks for going into the field.
-
Healthy snacks such as trail mix, nuts, dried fruits, energy bars, etc.
-
Some candy of good quality.
-
Gum
-
Hot sauces. The more exotic, the better. They use it to jazz up the MRE’s and some mess hall food.
Things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorants, shampoos, and other routine toiletries are usually in abundant supply and not really needed at this time. Unilever is a supplier of some of these items, and they frequently feed them into the stream. No expired items.
